15 Principle for Reading to Deaf Children
1. Translate stories using America Sign Language
2. Keep both languages (ASL and English) visible
3. Elaborate on the text
4. Follow the child's lead
5. Make what is implied explicit
6. Adjust sign placement to fit the story
7. Adjust signing style to fit the character
8. Connect concepts in the story to the real world
9. Use attention maintenance strategies
